The Miraka dairy plant at Mokai, 30km northwest of Taupō, is one of only two in the world powered by geothermal energy and processes 300 million litres of milk annually. Miraka farmer suppliers are within a 100km radius of our factory.

Miraka is one of New Zealand’s largest Māori export businesses, exporting NZD $300 million of premium whole milk powder, UHT milk, frozen cream, frozen milk concentrate and customised milk powders to more than 17 countries around the world.

Who we are looking for:
Reporting to the Production Supervisor, your day-to-day responsibilities will include operating and monitoring the UHT standardising and sterilising process and/or the UHT filling equipment to meet planned milk volumes in accordance with the production plan.

As a UHT Technician, you will be responsible for operating the downline and palletising equipment while assisting process operators with the Ultra High Treatment (UHT) plant. Additionally, you will complete all relevant plant checks, sample and test UHT milk, operate and monitor the milk separating and pasteurising or filling equipment as needed, meet agreed productivity and waste reduction targets, and maintain a high standard of cleanliness around the plant.

Previous dairy or manufacturing experience would be advantageous but not essential.

What you need to know:
• The position is based at our Mokai factory, 30km northwest of Taupo.
• Shift pattern (2 days on, 2 nights on, and 4 days off).
• Hours of work are 6.00am - 6.00pm.
• You will be required to operate a forklift and Miraka will support with certified forklift training.

Key responsibilities for this position include:

• Ensure the product meets required specifications.
• Implement and maintain the quality/HACCP plan to ensure the correct procedures are followed and required targets are achieved.
• Manage product sampling requirements.
• Complete regular checks and maintain records on accuracy of product coding.
• Ensure efficient cleaning schedules are conducted at the appropriate time intervals.
• Promote quality achievement and performance improvement in the packing plant.
• Participate and support the quality audit process and drive necessary action to ensure 100% adherence.
